Hi Heinz
Thanks for the feedback, and sorry about the problem you have
seen.
This is due to a file originally created in ASCE v2.0 being opened in
ASCE v3.0. It has nothing to do with registration.
There was a bug in the previous version of ASCE (2.0) that is only
manifest for non UK/US users, in that ASCE 2.0 used the Windows
locale/number settings to save/interpret number strings. E.g. in
Austria you say "0,5" instead of "0.5", so this was stored in the
underlying data. This means the files are not properly portable. We
have only seen this problem on machines that are not UK/US for this
reason.
So in the link attachment points we had things like
7,5e-2 whereas it should have been 7.5e-2
Anyway I have fixed it and am returning a version of the file that
should work with ASCE 3.0 (3.0.30 is latest version on our website,
or the last version 3.0.20 was released 18 months ago). We will put
a fix in to the next release of ASCE for the bug so that it degrades
gracefully in this situation.
I would advise all your students to download and use the latest
version of the application for this reason.
If you wish to fix any of the files yourselves, this can be done by
opening the AXML file in a text editor and replacing all lines that look
like this (or similar - the numbers will be different each time):
with this:
If you have any files that need converting from v2.0 I am happy to
do this as needed and return fixed versions to you.
Let me know if you have any more questions on this,
Best Wishes
- Luke
